Statement of Support for AfriNIC

Aug 26, 2025 | Media Releases

The African Computer Emergency Response Team (AfricaCERT) is closely monitoring the situation at the root of a litigation between the African Network Information Center (AFRINIC) and one of its members.

The AfricaCERT recognizes the indispensable role that AfriNIC plays in the assignment and management of Internet number resources (IPv4, IPv6), Autonomous System Numbers, and Reverse Resolution throughout the African region, and therefore the development and adoption of policies applied to African realities.

The AfricaCERT reaffirms the critical role of AfriNIC  in safeguarding the interests of the African region and its effectiveness as a catalyst for economic development across the continent.

The AfriCACERT encourages all parties involved in the litigation process  to consider the potential implications for the stability and security of the Internet, as well as the broader economic development of Africa, should AfriNIC be hindered in fulfilling its vital mission.

The AfricaCERT extends appreciation to all members of the community and friends of Africa for their commitment to finding the best possible solution.
